Seán Nos Dancing workshop
Sunday 28th September 2-5pm
£20
Mary McGuiggan
Mary McGuiggan is a dancer, performer and teacher from Bellaghy in S.Derry.
Having danced and taught competitively for many years, Mary now enjoys teaching regular ceili and step dance classes for fun and exercise.
She also teaches and performs at a variety of national and International festivals, often with her brother Joe.
Mary is delighted to be invited to teach at this year’s Sam Henry weekend and hopes to teach the dance, Maggie Pickens.
This is a very old solo dance, performed in Donegal and the bordering counties of Derry, Tyrone and Fermanagh, usually as a party piece.
It was certainly being danced in the mid 1800s
Danced to a particular piece of music..it has a character all of its own.
